As a first exercise our group had to go out to the streets of Zürich and try out some hands-on interventions with the chosen topic of Cliches. We went to stores such as Manor, posed in front of pretentious advertisement or rearranged public places.
Hack the society in different dimensions/ purposes
– our theme: disturbing, norms, expectations and cliches, inside and outside view
– we talked about foreigner points (being foreigners in Switzerland)
– example: the movie „Das Fest des Huhnes“
– Gendered behaviour in public space (walking, taking space, sitting with broad legs)
– Cliche from Christmas market
Kid’s (Karussell) equipment (boundary in-between culture)
– adults not allowed on the Kids Karussell 😦
– Hacking family structures by giving the Karussells ticket to other peoples kids
Hacking Reality
– manipulating angel fountain
– setting ourselves in context to commercial posters or videos
Rearrange the objects in the supermarket
– Hacking supermarkets
Accidentally Hacking (from strangers)
– Industrial System
– Identity Boundary
Further possible:
-Theatrical context:
If the supermarket itself is a Venus, and the audience are the customer.
If our actions have two layers:
1. First step: Few people in 15mins sneaky arrange the items in one supermarket at a “better” position as we thought.(everyone has camera on themselves.)
2. Second step: Few people go back to the position of customers(audience)to watch what they have done.( camera on too)
Some impressions
